Heather Tenzer is a U.S.-based journalist, award-winning filmmaker and storyteller whose films challenge injustice. The founder of Gefilte Fish Films, Tenzer has been supported by grants and fellowships from Yaddo Artist Residency, the Jerome Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Yip Harburg Foundation, and the Queens Council on the Arts, among others. Her first feature film in progress, The Rabbis’ Intifada, won an Al Jazeera Documentary Channel Co-production Award at Al Jazeera Documentary Industry Days (Sarajevo, Bosnia) and was an Official Selection at Sunny Side of the Doc (La Rochelle, France). Her film Mensch was broadcast on WNET (PBS) in New York City, and her short films have screened at U.S. and international film festivals including Next Frame, the Jewish Women’s Film Festival and Humboldt International Film Festival. Tenzer’s educational films have earned Telly Awards, CINE Golden Eagle Awards and recognition by the American Library Association. She holds a Master’s degree in Documentary Film Production from Stanford University and a BA from Oberlin College.
