Heather Tenzer is an award-winning filmmaker. She is the founder of Gefilte Fish Films LLC, a New York and Philadelphia based production company which produces documentaries that center historically ignored voices, expose myths, and build bridges across cultures and communities. Tenzer has been supported by grants and fellowships from Yaddo Artist Residency, the Jerome Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Yip Harburg Foundation, and the Queens Council on the Arts, among others. Her film MENSCH was broadcast on WNET (PBS) in New York City, and her short films have screened at US and international film festivals including Next Frame, the Jewish Women’s Film Festival and Humboldt International Film Festival. Tenzer’s educational films have earned Telly Awards, CINE Golden Eagle Awards, Freddie Awards and recognition by the American Library Association. She holds a Master’s degree in Documentary Film Production from Stanford University and a BA from Oberlin College.
